Education
1943 Born in Kyoto as the eldest son to Master Sohei. Named Yasunori.
1962 Graduated from Hiyoshigaoka High School, Kyoto, in sculpture.
Began study under Masters Horin Matsuhisa and Sorin Matsuhisa.
1965 Began career. Devoted himself to sculpture of Buddhist statues under the guidance of father, Sohei Eri.
1983 Exhibition, "Three members of the Eri Family" Shima Gallery, Minami Aoyama, Tokyo.
Exhibition and demonstration, Japanese Cultural Festival, Geneva, Switzerland.
Featured in a special TV program "Wonderful Partners"
1988- Taught; "Traditional Arts and Crafts of Kyoto" at Seika University.
1989 Made a statement to go back to the origin in making in sculptures,to use cypress as a material, lacquer for base, crystal for eyes.

Received title as Master sculptor of Buddhist statues from Sanzen'in
1990 Joint exhibition with Sayoko Eri at Wako Gallery, Ginza, Tokyo.
Takes sculptor's name "Kokei".
1991 Taught; "Buddhist Art" at Ryukoku University.
1993 Joint exhibition with Sayoko Eri at Wako Gallery, Ginza, Tokyo.
1996- Lecturer at Doshisha Women's College.
1997 Participated in the demonstration and symposium of the exhibition, Japan Society, New York, U.S.A.
Joint exhibition with Sayoko Eri at Wako Gallery, Ginza, Tokyo.
1998 Demonstrated at the Cleveland Museum of Arts, U.S.A
1999 Joint exhibition with Sayoko Eri at Brighton Hotel, Kyoto.
2001 Visiting Professor at Ryukoku University. Received title as Master sculptor of Buddhist statues from Ryukotokuji.
